The app is not working properly

Please try restarting the app. If the issue persists, contact us via email with details about the problem. Tapping Settings > Other > Feedback & bug reports in the app automatically includes your app version and OS version, which helps us investigate.

A book is not found when I search for it

StackBooks looks up books through external bibliographic data services. Some books — especially older titles, self-published works, and books outside Japan and the United States — are not registered in these services.

Try the following:

1. Switch the search target (Title / Author / ISBN) at the top of the search screen. Searching by ISBN is the most accurate.
2. If the book is still not found, use Add > Add manually to register it yourself. You can set the title, author, publisher, page count, cover image, and everything else by hand.

The barcode will not scan

Make sure you are scanning the ISBN barcode (the one starting with 978 or 979), not the price barcode. Good lighting helps. If the barcode is damaged or missing, enter the ISBN manually from the search screen, or register the book manually.

The cover image is wrong or missing

Cover images come from third-party databases and are occasionally missing or mismatched. You can replace any cover yourself: open the book, tap the cover, and choose Take a photo or Choose from library.

My stack height looks wrong

The stack height is calculated from the page count of the books marked as Read. Books with no page count are not included — the app shows a warning on those books. Open the book and enter the page count to include it.
